NIH-funded environmental health centers from 18 states are gathered in Lexington, Kentucky this week for their annual meeting to further science and public health research.
The Environmental Health Sciences Core Centers, a consortium of 26 centers including the UCSF EaRTH Center, are collaborating with colleagues and sharing the latest science despite the government shutdown that has prevented staff from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), which fund the centers, from attending and leading the meeting.
Contributions to environmental health showcased by EaRTH faculty and staff include:
- EaRTH’s Director, Dr. Tracey J. Woodruff, EaRTH’s Community Engagement Core Director, Dr. Rashmi Joglekar, and PRHE Science Associate, Emily Lasher, are hosting an add-on workshop, “How to Conduct Gold Standard Systematic Reviews”
- UCSF Assistant Professor, Dr. Dimitri Abrahamsson, is presenting his research as part of the “Innovations in Mass Spectrometry for Environmental Health” session
- Robinson Lab @ UCSF Postdoc, Dr. Julia Gomes, is presenting her scientific poster on screening environmental chemicals for developmental neurotoxicity
- Woodruff and Joglekar are co-chairing the “Communicating Science for Decisionmaking” plenary session for all meeting attendees
Additionally, all Centers developed posters and a video to showcase their goals and accomplishments at the meeting. See our EaRTH video and poster below.
